Tour de Vallee d’Abondance
70km | 1800m+
Theres not many flat sections on this ride but it more than makes up for it with fast flowing descents, steeper but manageable climbs and jaw dropping views of Lake Geneva and the beautiful Abondance valley. Theres two main climbs - Trechauffee and Corbier.
Trechauffee is tough and steep to start with and averaging around 8% for 11km. The last 4km at an optional tail to the top but it is really worth it for the views and also the great Buvette right at the end of the road. It’s not always open out of main summer holidays, but make the most of it when it is. They also make their own cheeses.
Col de Corbier follows which is a gentler 5km at around 7%, before climbing gently though the Morzine valley back home. Its regularly features in the Criterium de Dauphine.
