Col de la Ramaz

Alt. 1619m

This is a beautiful 14km climb gaining almost 1000m. Don’t go all out at the bottom as you’ll need to save something for the steep section halfway up. The crux is a couple kms at over 10% and a sustained sweaty tunnel. A couple hundred metres after the tunnel the gradient eases, the road turns through a gap in the rock and you find yourself riding through alpine meadows to the top.
The road then descends through a ski resort and down five awesome hairpins before turning a hard left and climbing a few km up to the Col d’Encrenaz. Here theres a cafe, water trough and then another great descent back to Morzine.

PLEASE NOTE that as of summer 2020 the road between Praz de Lys and Pont des Gets is due to be closed due to an ongoing landslide. It really is closed and not safe to sneak around - you MUST ride over the Col d’Encrenaz to return to Morzine and Les Gets.
